As the weather has turned colder at the beginning of the week, the children have been investigating the ice in the playground. They have looked closely at it through a magnifying glass and scraped it away using glue spreaders. We have talked about what ice is made from and what happens to it when it gets warmer.
This week in Nursery the children have made some shape biscuits. Firstly they mixed the ingredients together, then rolled the dough out before finally cutting it out using some shape cutters.
They have also been very interested in listening to and re-telling traditional stories using puppets, including the Three Billy Goats Gruff and The gingerbread Man.
Over the last two days the children have been exploring the playground and field looking for signs of Autumn. They collected lots of leaves of different colours that had fallen from the trees. We listened to the wind in the trees and the mud squelching under our boots. Tomorrow we will see what pictures we can create using the leaves.
This week the children have been working together to make a firework picture. The children have used tissue paper, cardboard tubes and tinsel to make firework rockets which have been added to a background of fireworks made with a splatter painting. Here are some pictures showing our rockets: –
